The River Kaveri forms a tributary called ‘Yagachi’ in Belur. In 2004, a dam was constructed to harness the water resource for serving irrigation and drinking water needs of Belur, Hassan and Chikmaglur districts. The large dam lies at a distance of about 10 km from the centre of Belur.
